US passport photo (2×2 in)

The US Department of State wants a 2×2 inch (51×51 mm) colour photo with a plain white or off-white background, your head 1 to 1⅜ inches from chin to top of head and your eyes 1⅛ to 1⅜ inches above the bottom edge. This tool sets all of that automatically and exports 600×600 pixels, which also works for DS-160 visa uploads and online renewals.

Rules change and some countries only accept photos taken by approved photographers or booths. Check your authority’s current requirements before you apply.

FAQ

Can I wear glasses?

No. Glasses are not allowed in US passport photos since 2016, except for rare medical reasons with a doctor’s statement.

Can I print it myself?

Yes. Print the 4×6 in sheet at a drugstore or photo kiosk on photo paper and cut out two copies; do not print on regular paper.

Is my photo uploaded?
